i made it a point to learn the MTR today (the hong kong subway).. just in time for me to leave and head off to shanghai. i'll consider it practice..
Lan Kwai Fong.. i think i'll call it gwelio-hell-o.. seems to be the jumpin joint for all the westerners in hong kong. i don't think i've seen this many white people clumped together in NYC ever. :-) seems like a nice crowd though..
this was a fun bar. it's the scence of the crime (the HK bloggers get together)..
hk has some really nice new architecture. i need to spend some time in this city in the daylight.. maybe tomorrow..
having had enough of the white folks, not that there is anything wrong with white people, but i really do see alot of them on my travels, i headed back into the depths of central station and back to more familiar streets in kowloon..
back on the northside, i found this sexy door on haiphong street..
tomorrow i'll make the rounds again and do the walkabout in the company of sol. i hope its clear so i can get some better views of this awesome city. in the mid-afternoon, i'll make my way to hung hom station for the marathon train ride to shanghai. there is a chance that i won't post again until sunday, but ya never know - come back a few times anyway - i really need the hits for my fragile ego.
i read that the shrub has done better than any president before him at one thing. ours is now a nation d-i-v-i-d-e-d.
and there seems to be very little middle ground and very little room for compromise.
the right is right...............................................................................................................................the left is left
and the democrats are getting their asses kicked. if they don't get their shit together soon there is a very good chance that bushco will tighten it's reign of terror on america. that would be a very bad thing. IMHO it will sew the seeds of something we have not seen here for quite some time. yes- i'm talking 'bout a revolution. i think that the usa could possibly become a battleground (here is where i say fuck you to the fbi or whomever, i'm NOT saying i am going to start this revolution, or that i want it to take place, i'm only predicting that it will happen)
these kind of things happen when the balance of power in a polital entity becomes radically tipped in one direction .. the winners start to win too much, and the loosers start to get desparate. sooner or later people get fed up (is this starting to sound like something you have heard of?) the palestinians have risen up because they are tired of being beaten down. the extreme elements of the muslim faith have started to do the same.. because they feel that there is a clear and present danger to their way of life. backed into a corner, the claws come out. the polarization of america is becoming more and more discreet, and by creating these two "tribes" the foundations are being laid that could result in some serious violence. some things that make is worse is the idea that the right is not at all happy with winning 90% of it's battles (out of the 100's of bushco appointees to be confirmed by congress, the conservative chose to fight like hell to get the last 3 pushed through. thank the stars the democrats had the backbone to stop a complete route.
backbone is something that is in very short supply with the democrats. danger will robinson

i was thinking about the right to bear arms, and why that little saying is in the constitution..
maybe it IS a good idea, so that if we need to, we CAN take up arms against an oppressive government.
(again for you governmental dipshits, i'm not advocating that this be done, i am only posing questions and opinions - as far as i can tell i'm in a free speech zone)
not that taking up arms against the goverment has a snowballs chance in hell of doing anything but getting citizens dead.
which leads me to the crux of my point..
most revolutionaries are not stupid, and we as humans have seen just how good some tactics can work against an overwhelming force.
something will need to give, or it's gonna get ugly, and that scares the hell out of me.
Rather than introducing you all to the good peeps i ment last night directly, i'll rather just send you out to check their blogs yourself. over the years i have been to a few RT meetings of virtual communities, and i must say that this was by far the most fun crowd. in no particular order, i bring you:
as varied as the bunch was in age, culture, occupation, etc., there was much lively discussion and some tastey beverages consumed. i'd go out on the town with the lot of them again at a moments notice.
i did take a few photos, but the low light and my reluctance to ever, ever, ever use a flash kept the quality to a minimum..
addendum:
i don't know how i managed to miss David in the list , but now he has been found.
and how silly me can miss the guest of honor is beyond me..
tonight i went to a get together of the bloggers in hong kong.. needless to say, that bunch can put away the booze. i must also say that the whole bunch can be considered the best of folks. more later, now sleep...
i have NO idea what this is. i was trying to get a panning shot of a bus for tony and this came out..
actually taken yesterday am, i'm not at all sure why one would need a snake's penis (unless of course you are a snake), but if anyone needs one, i know the place to get them..
i've shot this tower before, but the light was nice last night..
ok folks, i need your help... im undecided on which of these is the "good" one. will you please take a moment and vote in the comments on the two pics of the guy with the black jacket and fabu hair?..
this one is number two..
of course i woke up super early today.. 5 am HK time and no way could i get back to sleep - so i grabbed up the camera and heaed out to wait for sol. it was a bit cloudy to the east so i didnt get any real sunrise gems, but i did get these..
and here are a couple that didnt get posted from the trip over..
greetings all - i'm safe and sound in Hong Kong, but i did forget the files of the pics to post today so you'll have to wait until this evening HK time. (monday am your time in the states, so no worries.)
